Today children in Year 6 were evacuated to the safety of the country estate of Shugbrough. Dressed in their travelling clothes and equipped with gas masks and identity cards, the children headed for a new life with people who would become their new family (for the day!!).
The children learnt what their jobs would be whilst living on the farm anddiscovered the meagre rations they would be living on. They were disgusted to find out they would be eating liver, tripe and fluffy bunny rabbits! Not only that but only 6 sweets a week!!!!
They found out that there would be time for relaxation and fun, mainly in the form of dancing and singing in the Village Hall. Which (most of them!)they thoroughly enjoyed!
A worrying part of the day came when we all had to race to the shelter in fear of our very lives. We stayed in the darkness until we were told it was safe once more. All of us were prepared with gas masks....just incase.
