  • Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Mapledene, we take a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.

    Universal Support for Every Child

    • Every teacher and teaching assistant is a Place2Be Children's Mental Health Champion.
    • A caring, inclusive ethos where children feel safe, valued and listened to.
    • A PSHE curriculum that develops emotional literacy, resilience and healthy relationships.
    • Daily opportunities for children to talk, reflect and regulate their emotions.
    • Strong relationships with trusted adults throughout the school.

    Additional Support

When a child needs a little extra help, we may provide:

    • regular check-ins with a trusted adult
    • small group wellbeing sessions
    • pastoral support
    • support from our Pastoral and SEND teams where appropriate
    • close communication with parents and carers.

    Specialist Support

Where a child requires more specialised support, we work closely with families and external agencies to ensure the right help is accessed. This may include referrals to health professionals or other specialist services where appropriate.

If You Are Worried About Your Child

If you have any concerns about your child's mental health or emotional wellbeing, please don't wait until the problem becomes bigger.

Speak to your child's class teacher, who knows your child well and will be happy to listen. Together, we can discuss any concerns, agree the best way forward and, where necessary, involve other members of our pastoral or SEND team.

By working together, we can ensure that every child feels safe, supported and ready to thrive.
