Statutory Assessment Information for Parents and Carers
National Curriculum Assessments
Throughout primary school, children in England take part in a range of national assessments to help track their progress and learning. These include:
Reception Baseline Assessment – taken within the first 6 weeks of starting Reception.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Profile – completed between April and June of the school year in which your child turns 5 (usually Reception year).
Phonics Screening Check – taken in June of Year 1 to assess your child’s phonics knowledge.
Key Stage 1 Assessments – optional tests at the end of Year 2, carried out at the school’s discretion.
Multiplication Tables Check – taken in June of Year 4 to assess times tables knowledge.
Key Stage 2 Tests (SATs) – taken in May of Year 6 to assess progress in English and maths.
