Welcome
Welcome to Mapledene Primary School
I am very lucky and very proud to be the Headteacher of Mapledene. Not only are we fortunate enough to have a large, spacious building. we are also set in beautiful, extensive grounds that we are able to use to support our curriculum. However, the best thing about Mapledene is, without doubt, the children and their families-as staff we are so blessed to serve such a warm, friendly and supportive community.
We are very proud of our children who are confident individuals and enjoy school, whilst being ambitious and determined to succeed. We want our children to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world through a broad and balanced curriculum and also acquire the transferable skills they will need to succeed in their future lives. We are committed to providing them with a high-quality education which stimulates, encourages and challenges them to become independent and active learners with a sense of responsibility and purpose. Nevertheless, we do not underestimate the importance of self-worth and we understand that children need to feel good about themselves if they are to succeed. As such, we place great importance on the development of children's well-being and self-esteem.
Mapledene Primary School provides a safe and welcoming environment which encourages children and the whole school community to support each other and try their best. We believe in having a Growth Mindset- abilities can be developed through 'dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point' (Dweck, 2015). This view creates a love of learning and is underpinned by our values of: Respect, Resilience and Co-operation.
As a school, we believe that achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand and therefore we constantly review our curriculum to ensure that it is engaging and allows every child to make progress. We are sure that you will support our expectations of high standards of behaviour, achievement and attendance.
This website aims to celebrate with you the achievements of our children and to provide you with the information you need about the life and work of our school; however, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the school and support of the staff and pupils at Mapledene.
Kind Regards
Miss Jackie Stephenson
