Equality Objectives
Aims
At Mapledene, we are determined to ensure that all staff, pupils and parents have equal opportunities and access to school and events, never discriminating against anyone, regardless of their role or status, on the grounds of gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, gender orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion/belief, age, attainment or background. Sometimes, to deliver our ambitions, we recognise that we may need to treat some people differently so that their barriers to participation are removed.
We actively seek ways to:
- Eliminate all forms of discrimination and challenge personal prejudice and stereotypical views whenever they occur.
- Ensure fair access to education and events for all without prejudice, actively removing barriers to participation.
- We aim to ensure that all recruitment, employment, promotion and training processes are fair to all, and provide opportunities for everyone.
- We actively seek ways to celebrate individuality and cultural diversity, promoting respect for all.
- We provide positive experiences and interactions between people of different groups to foster and develop relationships and respect for all.
Our Objectives for 2024-2025 are:
Objective 1:
To instil the importance of good attendance throughout the entire school community, ensuring equality of opportunity for the engagement, attainment and progress for all children.
Objective 2:
To help children appreciate and respect diversity and differences by offering a variety of experiences in our school curriculum, both in and outside of school, and as part of our extra-curricular activities programme.
Objective 3:
To encourage parents to be more involved in their children’s learning and take part in school activities.
Objective 4:
To narrow the attainment gap between disadvantaged children and their peers.
