Joining our Reception in September 2023

Birmingham City Council handles our initial Reception admissions. Children in Birmingham can start school (reception) in the September after their fourth birthday; this means that if your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019, they will be able to start school in September 2023.

For more information on how to apply please click here:

Birmingham City Council Admissions

We know that choosing your child’s school is an important step; to help you come to an informed decision we are offering a choice of two open sessions where you are welcome to come and see Reception at work. These are:

  • Tuesday, 8th November 2022  9.30am-10.30am

  • Thursday, 10th November 2022 1.30pm – 2.30pm.

No pre-booking is necessary for these sessions; come along and find out for yourself what a wonderful start to school your child will make at Mapledene. If you are unable to make either of these sessions, please contact the school and we will do our best to accommodate you at another time.

'In-Year' Admissions

If you wish your child to start school at any time that is not at the very start of Reception, then this is known as an 'in-year' admission. The school manages these admissions but you can find guidance and the necessary forms by clicking on the link below. Please note that we will need to see your child's birth certificate or passport and proof of address.
