Year 3

Summer 2

Great work last week. This week we have more maths and English work for you, an exciting project and some more doodle activities. Keep up the effort everyone.

What to do first

  • Every morning do your Doodle English and Maths activities. New work has been set.
  • Next, scroll down and find the English and Maths activities. Try to do some of the work each day.
  • This week’s topic is “Design your own Theme Park” this is a great opportunity to be really creative. Look at the websites of some of the theme parks like Alton Towers https://www.altontowers.com/plan-your-visit/resort-information/attraction-maps/ and Drayton Manor https://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/rides-and-attractions and write a plan for a day if you could go there. What rides would you visit? What would you do first. Don’t forget to decide where you would eat. Then design your own theme park. Draw different rides and name them. Give them a description that would make people want to go on your rides. The choice is yours but remember to send your work to advice@mapledeneschool.com or upload it to the Facebook page so we can see what you have done.
  • Look at BBC Bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize and try some of the science, maths and English games
  • Get active, try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
  • Have lots of fun!

For ICT homework try these mini missions that don’t need a computer! https://www.barefootcomputing.org/docs/default-source/at-home/mini-missions_online_resourcegrid.pdf

Try to finish your rainforest project this week as next week we have a different exciting project for you.

Mr Mac and Mrs Humphris

Welcome Back To School...Well, HOME School

Hope you all had some fun over the last two weeks even if it was a strange way to spend Easter. Hopefully you are ready for some work.

What to do first

  • Every morning do your Doodle English and Maths activities. New work has been set.
  • Next, scroll down and find the English and Maths activities. Try to do some of the work each day.
  • Watch the rainforest video and then add some work to your rainforest project to show what you have learnt.
  • Research a period of history that you find interesting and then come up with a creative way to display your learning. You could draw a picture, write a story, create an animation, re-enact a historical battle. The choice is yours but remember to send your work to advice@mapledeneschool.com or upload it to the Facebook page so we can see what you have done.
  • Try one of the ICT mini missions and create your own algorithm.
  • Get active, try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
  • Have lots of fun!

Below are this week's maths and English lessons. Try to do one every day.

Also remember to get back in to Doodling. There will be some new work set regularly so keep checking every day and try to beat Mr Mac's scores.

The Facebook topic this week is Horrible History so when you are not doing Maths and English, we would like you to think about a period of history that you find most interesting and create some work related to this period. Try to study a topic that you have NEVER studied before and try to find out about all the really strange things that they used to do. We would love to see some of your work on the Facebook page, it may even lead to you being this week's Shooting Star in our virtual assembly.

For ICT homework try these mini missions that don’t need a computer! https://www.barefootcomputing.org/docs/default-source/at-home/mini-missions_online_resourcegrid.pdf

As well as all this don't forget to keep working on your learning about the rainforests. This video on BBC i-player is particularly interesting. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0074tgb/planet-earth-8-jungles

Well done everybody in team 3, you are fabulous.

Mr Mac and Mrs Humphris

Keep it up

Great to hear about all the learning that you guys are doing at home. Get your parents or guardians to show us what you are achieving either by emailing or posting your great work on our Facebook page. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your successes every day. Today I watched Cohen reading a story which he has uploaded on to Facebook. Check it out if you can and maybe do one of your own. But it doesn’t have to be you reading, upload your pictures or football skills or dances or.... anything that you have enjoyed learning at home this week.
Have a restful weekend and check back here on Monday for further instructions.
