Friday 26th June 2026

It’s Friday…or should that be FRYday!!!
Here are the activities we would like you to complete today.

TTRS

Come on Birch!!!

In the battle of the bands, Birch are lagging behind! Sycamore won on Wednesday, Pine won yesterday so surely today, Birch will pull out all the stops and win today’s Rock Clash. Day 3 of the Heatwave Clash, who will win.

Well done to Arthur in Pine who was the top scorer on Wednesday and Amelia S who smashed it yesterday. Who will be the top of the pops today?

English

Look at the page about fronted adverbials below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/zp937p3

Now complete the task and see if you can start every sentence in a different way. Remember, fronted adverbials are brilliant but variety is the spice of life, so try different ways of starting each sentence, and yes that does mean that occasionally you can start a sentence with The!

Maths

Please visit MyMaths again. Log in and work through the lesson.

Revise your understanding of 3D shapes with this brilliant interactive activity.

Reading

Finished your maths and English?

Well done, time for a break. Find a cool spot and open your reading book. Get really lost in a book for at least 30 minutes. If you manage to find a really COOL place to read then, don’t forget to send a picture to contact@mapledeneschool.com  the coolest places may even get stars!

Science

Watch the video about circuits.

The Power of Circuits! | Technology for Kids | SciShow Kids

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOFp8bHTN30

Now we would really like you to create a design for a torch to help Hogarth to track down the Iron Man. We will be building torches in our DT lessons later this term so remember to add lots of labels to explain the materials you will use and where the circuit will be.

Also remember to draw a switch to turn it on and off. If the Iron Man sees the light, he might run away and then Hogarth will never find him!

Art

Today we would like you to draw your own version of the Wild Robot Roz with this lovely tutorial. You only need a pencil and some paper to draw along and hopefully your pictures will be amazing. Don’t forget to pause the video and rewind whenever you need to so you can get it just right. We look forward to seeing some of your fabulous pictures on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe in the sun!

Thursday 25th June 2026

Morning children. Hope you managed to keep cool in the heat yesterday.
Today, please find the time to do the following activities:

English

Look at the information about writing in paragraphs here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zbxktcw/articles/z9n73k7#zj4ms82

Now write two paragraphs about the Wild Robot. One to describe Roz and one to say all the things she has done so far in the story. Try to use a variety of sentence starters and fronted adverbials as well as exciting expanded noun phrases. You could add some illustrations to bring it to life too.

Maths

Visit mymaths and do today’s lesson. We are looking at angles, not to be confused with angels! Work through the lesson and tasks to develop your understanding of angles as degrees of turns and different types of angles especially obtuse and acute angles. Remember that an acute angle is ‘a cute’ angle, small and adorable. Whilst an obtuse angle is a big fat angle that is bigger than a right angle.

Reading

Time to find a shady spot and enjoy your book. Read for at least half an hour and tomorrow, we look forward to hearing all about what books you have chosen to read.

Science

Look at the information here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z8nqfdm/articles/zsj9r2p#zfcccmn

Complete the activities about electricity and then do the quiz. Can you remember everything we have learnt, especially how to make sure that circuits are complete. Good luck.

Art

Yesterday was all about the Iron Man. Today we want you to think about the Wild Robot. In the story, Roz camouflaged herself so that she could study the animals on the island. Can you create a picture of Roz that shows her cleverly using camouflage. You could use collage or natural resources to create your image, maybe even use things from outside like twigs and leaves to make your design. We look forward to seeing what you create.

TTRS

The challenge is on again today. Get onto TTRS and see which class can get the bragging rights in the Rock Clash. Will Sycamore, Birch or Pine be victorious.
Your Class Needs You.

Remember to finish your wanted posters and stay safe in the sun
